Meku: (Welcome)
Wayuką́, an Indigenous and woman-owned business based in Louisville, Kentucky, was founded by Anna M. Asbury, an enrolled member of the Saponi-Catawba Nation of the Ohio Valley.
Wayuką́ (pronounced wah-you-kahn) is a Yesą́:sahį word meaning “Roots”. Yesą́:sahį is the language of my people, Yesą́ (Saponi), and means the speech of the people.
Mission
Wayuką́ is a company built around ancestry. Heritage, culture, self-respect, and pride are the cornerstones of everyone’s foundation. With this foundation comes an unbreakable connection with family and Mother Earth. Wayuką́’s mission is to empower people to embrace the beauty and strength of their ancestry (culture, history, and original spiritual practices).
